Shelly's Story

Shelly didn’t understand why she’d been left behind. Her owner came into the lobby at SNAP’s Ingram Road clinic, placed her gently on the reception desk, and… walked away. This tiny black kitten was scared, sick, weak from an upper respiratory infection, and too tired to even cry. In that moment, our team became Shelly’s lifeline.

Although SNAP is not a shelter and is not equipped to house animals, the team did not hesitate to give this baby the warmth, comfort, medicine, and love she needed. Day by day, Shelly began to heal; her little body was growing stronger, her beautiful green eyes were becoming even brighter, and her spirit started to shine.

It didn’t take long for her to steal everyone’s hearts. One team member—who had been there since the moment Shelly arrived—knew Shelly needed a home. But not just any home; Shelly needed her home.

Today, Shelly is no longer the fragile kitten left at the front desk. She’s playful, adored, and safe in her forever home. Soon, she’ll return to SNAP to be vaccinated and spayed, marking not just a milestone in her care and wellbeing, but the beginning of a beautiful new chapter.

Sometimes, the ones left behind turn out to be the ones who were meant to find us all along.
